MINTworld is an educational initiative of Lonza Visp in collaboration with the Canton of Valais. In 2023, an interactive world of experiences was created on the Lonza site in Visp, where children, young people, and school classes are inspired by the subjects of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology (STEM).

The Learning Journey – developing a new role

Over a period of eight months, Intrinsic accompanied four MINTworld employees on a joint learning journey. The goal was to empower the participants in their new role as learning guides and to support them in developing from their previous roles (e.g., as trainers or subject matter experts) to pedagogically reflective, dialogue-oriented learning facilitation.

The focus of the Learning Journey was:

  • the examination of one’s own attitude as a learning companion,

  • the development of didactic and methodological skills for an effective learning experience,

  • Designing learning processes with a focus on curiosity, participation and personal responsibility among young people.

Accompanied by workshops, reflection sessions, and practical phases, participants developed concrete learning formats and interactions for the MINTworld that are specifically tailored to students' interests and mindsets. In doing so, they repeatedly bridged the gap between subject-specific expertise and pedagogical flair—a key competency in educational work of the future.

Impact and perspective

The Learning Journey not only strengthened the participating employees in their new roles, but also contributed to the development of a pedagogically sound, inspiring learning culture within MINTworld. It thus makes an important contribution to the promotion of young talent in the STEM field – ideally even to the sustainable positioning of MINTworld, Lonza, as a responsible educational partner in Valais.
